Ed and Vern (Veronica) moved to Southern California from Pittsburgh, PA after WWII. There they discovered an old building in a small town called Cornell, which had once been used as a stagecoach stop, built around 1910 and made entirely out of volcanic rock. They purchased the building and open a small grocery store in 1961. As time went on, and the population grew, major roadways were built connecting Mulholland Hwy. to PCH. This attracted motorcycle riders. Eventually the Rock Store evolved into a landmark motorcycle hangout with food, drinks and celebrity sightings.
